The soundtrack of my life

Admittedly, today’s post is random. This one is way out there from left field.

I’m less musically-inclined than the average person. Piano lessons were forced upon me as a child, and it has left an indelible distaste for learning an instrument. My husband cracks up when he hears me singing along with the words that I think they’re singing…I’m almost always wrong. And when given the choice, I’ll choose silence over background music. Even in the car.

But today, as I drove home from the pediatrician’s office, with two coughing, squabbling children in the back seat, I found myself turning the radio on, and I found myself searching for my favorite song.

Now, I feel the need to clarify that I am in no way, a country fan. Don’t get me wrong—it’s fine; I just don’t usually turn to it. It’s usually Britney pop or Rihanna who get me through my Jillian circuits.

But for whatever reason, I’ve recently been tuning to Donna Fargo’s Happiest Girl in the Whole USA. I’m not sure if it’s the jaunty tune or Donna’s twang, but it’s just enough to bring a smile to my face when I need one and remind me how awesome life is on days that I’m already smiling.

Shine with me sunshine, walk with me world, it’s a skippety-do-da day,
I’m the happiest girl in the whole USA…

Thank you Lord for making him for me
And thank you for letting life turn out the way that I always thought it could be…

Creating a soundtrack for my life has always sounded interesting to me. If I ever do, this song would definitely be on there.

What songs inspire you? Make you happy? If you had a soundtrack for your life, what song would most definitely be included?

What do theme songs, tents, and joy have in common?

That’s cute! I can totally picture that as a “you” tune. I think for me there are so many sound tracks Icould pick depending on my mood. I think I’d have a hard time making a decision (my forever internal dilema) and picking just one (how do people do this?!)
