1. It sucks, no matter how well you plan.
2. This post had fantastic advice. If I had to choose the most valuable piece of advice from it, I’d say it was the Moving Folder. I can’t tell you how many times I have referred to mine.
3. Murphy’s Law of Moving: If you can’t find something that you packed (i.e. cell phone charger or Aveeno sensitive daily wash for your kids’ ultra-sensitive skin) you simply need to go buy (replace) the item. Guaranteed, you will find what you were looking for within the next 24 hours.
4. It’s natural to second guess your decision to move in the first place. Hopefully, this will pass by the fifth or sixth day. (It did for me.)
5. It sucks, no matter how well you plan. Oh, did I say that already? Well, it bears repeating.
6. Chances are, you own way too much stuff and moving will make this apparent.
7. You quickly learn what is important to you when you can’t find it. I didn’t have a difficult time finding all these items, but these were some of the things I looked for and used immediately: coffee pot, kettle, toaster, a pan, measuring cups, food processor, aspirin, laundry soap, fabric sheets, an internet connection, cell phone charger.
8. Not having a TV for the first few days is not only optimal; it’s amazing. We get more unpacking done, but we also have been on numerous family adventures, exploring our new town and the cities that surround us. Once the kids are in bed, J and I chat and/or play cards at night. I know for certain, that if there were a TV here, I’d *lose* J to it every night. If I have anything to do with it, we won’t be getting a new TV anytime soon.

Good to hear from you. I assume you love your new place. Another blogging friend is moving soon. It actually sounds exciting.
Hi Kirwin, I think you’re right, it’s impossible for it to be easy moving..at least you have a new area to explore..very exciting
I agree with the TV thing. I never bought a big tv for the family room since moving into this house 3 years ago and I do not miss it. We have a small tv in the toy room that gets used a few times a week for dvds and some late night vegging out. If this tv goes out, I doubt I will get a new one!
Yeah! Glad you are settling into your new town and loving it. I have a feeling that you probably made moving easier than any person I know even though it may not have seemed that way
I dread moving so much I actually shudder when I see UHaul trucks on the road! Happy nesting.
