Mind dump

I slept horribly last night. We went to bed at 9:30, and I tossed and turned to 11:00 {at least}. I couldn’t get my mind to settle down. Maybe I can just dump some of my stuff here, and deal with it later.

In no particular order:

1. I have been treating my body like crap. I have been stressed out and I eat junk. JUNK. I feel fat, I feel gross, and I am disappointed in myself. I am in desperate need of a sugar-detox.

2. I am feeling a lot of stress in that friends and family want to schedule last “somethings” with us. Our social calendar is already full of Little League, end of school activities, and oh yeahpacking and moving. It’s not that I don’t want to see everyone for a last “something”, it’s just that I feel stretched a little lot thin.

3. I’ve been wanting to find a creative outlet for myself, as well as a little money-maker. I like creating things with my hands… After planning my daughter’s birthday party, I’m wondering if I could have a little Etsy store. I would love it. But then my negative voice tells me what a lame idea that is, and that it would never work. (There’s a whole positive and negative conversation going on in there.)

4. The husband and I want to set up a budget. I’m eager to scale back and *see* where our money is going. We don’t need as much as we think we need, and our kids don’t need as much as they think they need. I’m eager for them to learn that.

5. I hate the way my blog looks. I have hated its lack of personality for a while now. But I don’t know anything about photoshop or blog design or —-. Oh well. It will have to wait.

That’s all. I feel better now. Hopefully, tonight will be a good night’s sleep.

Hey Kirwin, I would work on number one first, until you’ve moved house; then, when you;re settled start to plan the next things on your list {this might help with number 2?}

As for the others, the blogs an easy one, you could do what I did, get a lovely header designed {not expensive} and then do all the other styling, colours yourself; I can help if needed :-)
Finances will be all over the place at the moment with the move and all but I would try to spend a whole month just recording spends on basics; grocery, kids, social, etc and this will set you on the way to budgeting.
And the Etsy store, you are very {very} creative and this would be something you would be great at so yes this is definitely a good idea :-)

sorry please feel free to ignore all my ‘advice’; i’m not sure where that all came from…lol :-)

I think you just have alot going on with the stress of the move and trying to fit everything in before you move. Maybe just try to balance it - cut yourself a little slack until everything gets settled again.

1. You can always meet for morning coffee or something versus trying to fit it in the evening.

2. I have a friend who has an etsy store as her creative outlet - it doesn’t pay the bills but it does help her bring in some cash (ps she gets to stay at home too) her site is http://www.tjstestkitchen.blogspot.com. You can get to her etsy store there. You are so creative/crafty, I know you would succeed at it - just maybe wait til after the move so you don’t add more stress and can have your craft room :)

3. Zesty helped me out with my site alot and still answers my questions - I could maybe get some pointers to help you out if you want :)

Take a deep breath, relax and let it all go knowing it will all work out in the end.

Changing number one will make everything else better. Is it a possibility to meet everyone at a park and have a big group last “something”? Wishing you an oasis of peace during moments of chaos. :)

You are going through a stressful time. Moving house is always going to be stressful. When you get stressed you eat junk food. We all do that to a lesser or greater extent.

I would go with Laura and say take crea of item 1 first. Your health is most important. Take some time out each day for yourself. It’s non-negotiable. If you have a break down how is the rest of the family going to cope with that?

Forget item 5 - at least for now. Most people read blogs in readers these days. Your site looks OK.

Item 2. Why not just arrange one “send off” party, and have people come to that?

Item 4. You can wade through the bank statements, credit card statements etc. and work up a spreadsheet, or page of notes looking at where the money is going. Cover everything (yes every penny). Then present it to hubby and discuss together how you can make savings. That process will be much easier when you have the black and white numbers in front of you.

Good luck!

moving is always a stressful event for people…. just remember that you are doing it all for the right reasons. take it easy and be gentle with yourself right now. start slowly incorporating more healthy foods daily - avoid takeout, throw some fruit & salads together, make a green smoothie, etc. a send off party off-sight (ONE) is a brilliant idea - i’m sure people will still be stopping by to say their goodbye’s but if you an wrap most people up at one event that would help simplify things i imagine. don’t worry about your blog design - its simple and clean and fine. email me if you want design recommendations (cheap) though (AFTER you move). hang in there ~ j :)
