I’m still thinking about the Michelangelo Method. I can’t help it. It obviously made an impression on me.
So I bought myself some flowers.
aren't they pretty?
I always admire and enjoy the fresh flower stands at markets. I’m drawn to the bright colors and their fresh beauty. However, I rarely indulge in buying flowers for myself. What’s the point? They’ll just die in a few days…
But there is a point to fresh flowers: I enjoy them. They make me happy. They are authentically me. They are part of my own personal David.
Last week, I decided that I was going to start paying more attention to the intuitive voice in my head, as that voice isĀ my guide to theĀ authentic me.
It has become a daily goal of mine to do something authentically me. Every day. Somewhere in the middle of laundry, errands and bedtime, I’ll find little ways to celebrate myself.
What can you do today that is authentically you?

Tulips are, without question, my favorite flower!
You ask such a good question. It’s something I’ve been thinking on a lot lately, as I’m studying for my PhD exams and have the chance to set the parameters of my field of research - how can I be true to myself in this work? How can I find the balance between what is required of me (or what I think will impress others the most) and what will mean the most to me?
Today, I can be authentically me by listening to my intuition about my research, and having the courage to push ahead on a path that’s different from the traditional expectations. Thanks for the reminder of the value in choosing personal authenticity.
does drink coffee count?
@ Sharone~ It’s so easy to get caught up in “what will impress others?” and forget about what YOU really prefer — I’m constantly being challenged with this. Good for you for choosing personal authenticity. : )
@ Denise~ It does. But you have to savor every sip. ; )
They are beautiful and I agree - you should always find little ways to celebrate you for all you do for others. I bet every time you walk by they make you smile
Great post! This is hard for me, with two boys, my work and school, and just the normal family chaos, I rarely do anything just for me. I used to make time for daily chapel, just 15 minutes of peace, quiet and prayer, but it made such a huge difference in my life. I haven’t been able to do that in over a year, but I need to start again. We all deserve that 15 minutes of peace
Wow…the Lord has woke me up the past 2 nights with basically this same question. *goosebumps* Now to find the answer to that question…oh who am I kidding. I know the answer…
Hmm…I really need to think on this…”take away all that isn’t authentically me”.
