DIY Tea Party Favor

by kirwin on July 22, 2009

tbags_final2I’ve been working on the party favors for my sister’s Kitchen Tea. Inspiration hit, and I decided to make each guest their own tea bag-inspired bag of candy. Each tea bag is filled with grey and white m&m’s — the colors of the wedding.

Here’s how I made them:
tbag11. Cut tissue paper to 8 x 11.5 inches.**

**all measurements should be viewed as suggestions rather than rules.

tbag22. Fold both sides in toward center, so that they slightly overlap. Glue this seam.

tbag33. With seam side out, fold tissue in “half”, leaving an extra half-inch on the Front.

tbag4 4. Like an accordian fold, fold Front and Back the opposite direction — one time only.

tbag5 5. Now, the seamed side of the tea bag should be on the “inside” of the tea bag.

tbag66. Fill {both sides of the} package with candy. I used grey and white M&M’s — the colors of the wedding.

tbag77. Fold top corners in towards the Center Back.

tbag88. Fold top down about 1/2 inch.

tbag99. Secure tea bag and string with staple. The finished product measures 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″.

tbags_final1The tags on the tea bags are circle stickers from Paper Source. Each tag is made of 2 circle stickers, stuck together. I printed “Thank you” on one side, and “for coming” on the other side. To give them more of a tea bag tag shape, I trimmed each side of the circle.

good effort! Its one of those things, it can be a hassle and a lot of work, but you get out what you put in. They are lovely. And I bet you are well chuffed (oh that is a very english phrase - its means, very pleased) with yourself.

I am stuck on the phrase ‘you have got to make your own fun, otherwise it is just entertainment’ It is going round and round in my head at the moment.

I reckon you made your own fun there.

I’m fascinated by the fact you have grey and white M&Ms! No such thing here in the UK - only brightly coloured ones.
