In need of a new tagline…

by kirwin on June 27, 2009

Dear Readers,

I need your help. I’m trying to nail my tagline, and I’ve narrowed it down to a few choices.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, I’d love to get your feedback.
For those of you who are visiting for the first or second time, please take a few minutes to pop around my site and see what you think — what general feeling do you get?

The choices are:

  • because I’m more than just a mom.
  • a journey towards becoming a better me.
  • living and loving this precious life.
  • the story of a 30-something, learning to dance like no one’s watching.

I would create a poll if I knew how but since I don’t, please leave  a comment and tell me which one you think is the best tagline for my blog. After writing this post, I’m leaning towards a certain one. However, I’d still like to see what you –my readers– think.

Thank you!

blimey - they are all good and appropriate. I am going to go for the first one, because I am more than just a mom. Because I think that is how I first started reading you - trying to figure out how to be the best you, beyond being a mom. Although I really LIKE the last one. Perhaps you could put the story of a 30 something mom learning to dance like no one is watching?

I think the 2nd (a journey towards becoming a better me) is most fitting of what I’ve seen here since I discovered your blog a month or so ago. But I really like the feel of “loving and living this precious life”….And I still like “because I’m more than just a mom” too.
Ok, apparently I’m no help at all!

a journey towards becoming a better me. I like this one - with some slight changes:

a journey towards discovering me.

By saying - better - you are saying that you are no good now - which you totally are!! So this being said, perhaps the third one : )

I like them all, but the 2nd is my favorite followed by the 3rd. I think the first one is limiting and the last one is a bit long. I like Denise’s comment too!

I like the first one. It’s catchy and for many moms like myself we forget that we’re more than just a mom…
I also like Denise’s idea!

I think your original one is great! But I do love the way this rolls off the tongue…

a journey towards discovering me.

:) Happy Sunday! Are you enjoying this MASSIVE heat wave?? :/

I really like the second and third ones, but I’d give the second one the edge. :)

I must admit I’m partial to the first one. I don’t know why, but I am.
I had the same response as some others to the second one. I think it’s good, but I don’t like the “better me” part, either: you’re beautiful just as you are right now! :)

Will be interesting to learn what you decide. Is your Style Statement helping you any with this?

Jill June 28, 2009 at 5:39 pm

I like the second one!

Amy @Feasibly Fit Mom June 28, 2009 at 8:39 pm

Hi, I like the third and second (along with some of the suggested modifications). imo, they can all be *true*, it’s just a matter of which direction you want to take with your *blog* : )

@ everyone~

I’m really enjoying reading your responses, and I value your feedback! Thank you!

Denise, I understand what you’re saying, and like the others, I agree. I just want to be more *me*, not a *better* me.

I like number 3 as I truly believe life is precious!

Trust me to be the odd one out of all the commenters but I totally LOVE the 4th one. It’s catchy and different. I read a post about crafting an effective tagline not long ago and changed mine as a result. Here’s the link; http://www.copyblogger.com/create-a-tagline/

Hope it helps.

PS. Check out the comments in the post I linked to. It turns into a tagline workshop.

I was gone this weekend and I’m just catching up now. Hope I’m not too late. My first thoughts were totally with Sami, I like catchy and different.

But then I got to thinking about what I take away from your blog and how I see it, can I share those with you? I don’t want to confuse matters and make it harder but what your blog speaks to me is “finding your groove, finding your style”. I’m not saying that’s a tagline but those are the words that come to my mind when I think of you and your blog. You are a woman who is discovering what makes you tick, who you are, what your style is and how to express that. My own personal style is quite distinct from yours but I’m challenged to evaluate my own life, choices and expression by what you write and post here. Does that make any sense?

For example: when you post pieces from your wardrobe I’m challenged to think about my own. I ask myself “what do my clothes say about who I am, what are my signature pieces, what am I communicating by what I’m wearing, how can I simplify” etc…

In finding your own groove, you help others to find theirs. As you are discovering yourself (like denise said) you are encouraging others to do the same. That’s cool.

To me your blog speaks, groove and style - but that’s just me! You go with what you want because baby, it’s your blog!

@ RML, Sami, & Renee~
Thanks, ladies! You’ve given me more to think about. I think, in the end, I’m just going to have to go with my gut…

I also love “the story of a 30-something, learning to dance like no one’s watching.”

It makes me smile ;)

Danica July 5, 2009 at 5:11 pm

I still like because I am more than just a mom :) but if you are looking for something different I like the story of a 30-something too - Good luck! I can’t wait to see which you pick.
